The largest global forum in urology, the American Urological Association Conference, concluded in Boston. Sechenov University was represented by staff from the Uronephrology Research Institute, who, in panel discussions and video presentations, shared Russian urologists' experience with laser surgery for prostate adenoma and stone fragmentation. Specifically, they discussed the results of treating erectile dysfunction with shockwave therapy and the use of the new Russian thulium laser for major surgery, UROLAZ. The forum's main topics included modern treatments for prostate adenoma, urolithiasis, and urological cancers. During the conference, James Catto, editor-in-chief of European Urology, a leading urology journal, stated that we are on the verge of a revolution in the treatment of malignant tumors, thanks to a better understanding of their development mechanisms. Successful experiments have been conducted in the treatment of bladder cancer, injecting nucleic acid into cancer cells resistant to standard chemotherapy. This restored the cells' sensitivity to therapy and allowed the tumor to be subsequently destroyed. The Boston conference brought together 5,000 urologists, oncologists, and related specialists from over 120 countries. Source: urologypro.ru
