Russian doctors performed the surgery using the Urolaz device, the first Russian thulium laser for large-scale surgery. It was developed at the IRE-Polus scientific and technical association, located in the Moscow region. Unlike other devices, the thulium laser has a continuous laser beam with high energy density, ensuring gentle tissue excision and improved hemostasis. To date, the "Russian laser," as international experts call it, has been used in over 100 prostate adenoma removal surgeries. All were performed without complications, with rapid restoration of normal urination. The postoperative hospital stay was 2-3 days. In addition to the thulium laser, the surgical technique also attracted the attention of European specialists. It combines the best techniques currently used in laser surgery. This new approach allows for quick, simple, and safe removal of the adenoma. The author of the method, senior researcher at the Research Institute of Uronephrology and Human Reproductive Health, and associate professor of the Department of Urology, Dmitry Enikeev, who was the first in the world to perform surgery using a Russian thulium laser, will present a report at the EUA congress.
