Gentle Tissue Resection in Endoscopic Nasal Surgery – A Technical Overview of the Rhinoscopic Shaver
A rhinoscopic shaver is a rhinology instrument with replaceable cutting attachments. The cutting attachment is a hollow tube with a blade at the end, which rotates in a protective casing with a small opening at the end for grasping and cutting tissue. These design features allow for gentle and selective resection and removal of polyps and mucous membranes without damaging intact areas. Continuous suction through the internal cavity of the cutting attachment ensures continuous evacuation of blood and tissue. Using a shaver allows for many functional rhinosurgical procedures to be performed with a gentler effect on the patient, reducing the duration of the operation. Main features of the shaver: - Rotation modes: clockwise, counterclockwise, reverse. - Instrument rotation control by a foot pedal. - 5 rotation speed ranges. - Smooth rotation speed adjustment with a foot pedal. - Stabilization of the instrument rotation speed regardless of tissue density. - Three reverse motion frequencies. The rotation speed and reverse frequency can be individually set for different attachments and stored in the memory. Nine memory slots for storing individual settings. The shaver handle is submersible. Attachments and burs are easily and securely attached. The straight suction channel ensures easy cleaning of the tool and handle. Long continuous operation time.
