Congress of the International College of Otolaryngologists

In 2006, Moscow hosted the Congress of the International College of Otolaryngologists (CORLAS – Collegium Otorhinolaryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum) – the most prestigious professional organization, uniting the world's leading scientists, clinicians, and researchers working in otolaryngology and related disciplines. The gold standard of the College is the highest level of scientific achievements of its members. This was the first time the Congress of the College was held in Moscow. Significantly, this event coincided with the 80th anniversary of the College. 230 members of the College participated in the Congress. The scientific program included three mini-symposia, 80 papers, and 22 poster presentations. Over the course of three days, issues of molecular and cellular biology of the auditory analyzer, gene therapy and genetic engineering for hearing impairments, cochlear implantation and its development prospects, general otolaryngology, and ENT oncology were discussed. Professor Georgiy Tavartkiladze was elected President of the College for 2006-2007. A special symposium examined the development paths and prospects of both the specialty and the College itself. The next Congress of the College will be held in August 2007 in Seoul.
