The Ministry of Health has approved new requirements for the work of plastic surgeons.

Effective July 3, 2018, the Russian Ministry of Health amended the procedure for providing medical care in plastic surgery. The corresponding Ministry of Health Order No. 298n, dated May 31, 2018, "On Approval of the Procedure for Providing Medical Care in Plastic Surgery," was posted on the Raszdravnandor website on June 29, 2018. The document contains several fundamentally important innovations. The requirements outline a new procedure for providing medical care in plastic surgery. It also limits the range of specialists authorized to perform plastic surgery. For the first time, the order includes requirements for the organization of activities and equipment of plastic surgeons' offices, plastic surgery departments, and plastic surgery centers. In the plastic surgery center, it has become mandatory to have the following functioning around the clock: an X-ray room, anesthesiology and resuscitation department; a clinical diagnostic laboratory; Blood transfusion room; operating room; dressing room. Compared to previous amendments to the current law on the provision of medical care in the field of "Plastic Surgery," introduced by the Ministry of Health in July 2017, the new amendments are more stringent. Furthermore, with the new requirements for medical care, patients must undergo at least one day of inpatient observation after each plastic surgery, which in turn eliminates outpatient plastic surgeries, which were common in surgeons' practices.
