A new method of joint treatment has been developed at the Ilizarov Center in Kurgan.
Doctors at the Ilizarov Russian Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopedics in Kurgan have mastered a modern arthroscopy technique, the medical institution’s press service told the EAN news agency. She’s smiling, and it’s hard to believe that Natalya Mashkina was undergoing surgery just half an hour ago. The doctors were demonstrating the capabilities of arthroscopy on the girl’s knee joint. This method is minimally invasive, with an incision of just a few millimeters. The apparatus itself is sharper than an X-ray. With its help, the surgeon can see what is not visible on the image. Surgeon Tatyana Karaseva performs three such operations a day. People come from all over Russia and neighboring countries. Football players, skiers, miners. Some have a meniscus injury and an intra-articular fracture. The Murzins have just such a case. Near Khanty-Mansiysk, we were in a traffic accident. As often happens in unprofessional clinics, Mikhail Nikolaevich's surgery was crudely performed, and Nadezhda Prokopyevna's diagnosis was completely incorrect. We went to Kurgan to correct someone else's mistakes. Using an arthroscope, Murzin reassembled the knee joints piece by piece. Tatyana Karaseva began performing such operations after specializing in Sweden. The result: the patients began walking. Arthroscopy is now used at the Ilizarov Center to treat knee, ankle, and elbow joints. And soon, this advanced method will be able to be used on shoulder joints as well.
