Plazmatic by ElePS for transurethral resection

In the urology department of the Zarinsk City Hospital, doctors have begun mastering a new type of surgical treatment—transurethral resection. The essence of the operation is that the urologist does not use a scalpel. All manipulations are performed inside the body using endoscopic instruments and a video camera.

Over the past 5 years, the hospital's urology department has made significant strides forward. In 2019, equipment for stone crushing (lithotripsy) was acquired. This is a safe, modern, and effective type of operation. Contact crushing of a stone in the ureter is performed using endoscopic equipment through the urethra. It is done without punctures or incisions on the body.

At the end of 2022, urologists began performing puncture biopsies of the prostate. This is a diagnostic procedure where tissue samples are taken with a special instrument. Previously, patients were referred to regional facilities or had this procedure done in private clinics. Today, it can be done free of charge at the city hospital. Last year, the department's doctors performed more than 50 punctures.

In 2024, the urology department acquired a device for endoscopic surgical treatment of the prostate gland.

"Unfortunately, year by year, the number of patients with this diagnosis is increasing. This is an extremely common urological disease, which, according to statistics, is detected in almost every fourth man aged 50. One of the methods of surgical treatment for this disease is transurethral resection of the prostate, which involves removing the pathologically altered part of the prostate gland. This high-tech operation is characterized by being performed without an incision, endoscopically. We remove the nodes using a laser and an electrocoagulation knife. The technique itself is not new; it has long been used in regional institutions. But if earlier patients from the Zarinsk area were referred to medical facilities in the region, and there is a certain waiting list there, today we perform this operation locally. There's no need to travel anywhere or wait a long time," explained Vadim Bizyaev, Head of the Urology Department, urologist at the Zarinsk Central City Hospital.

This operation has many advantages. The rehabilitation period is significantly reduced. The patient stays in the hospital for about a week. In addition, they should not be troubled by severe pain in the postoperative period.

The fact that Zarinsk has acquired new equipment from the Russian manufacturer "ElePS" and that urologists have begun performing scalpel-free surgeries is a big step forward.

"We had been dreaming about such equipment for a long time. And finally, our wish came true. Although this technique is not new and is used everywhere, for us it is a serious step forward. Now it will be much easier for our patients to solve this problem. And locally, without having to go to another city," noted Vadim Dmitrievich.

Currently, the department has performed 3 operations. Two patients have already been discharged, and one is under medical supervision.

At the same time, in the urology department, where due attention is now being paid to the modernization of equipment, the problem of staff shortages still persists. No matter what anyone says, no medical equipment can replace personnel.
