In April, the R.M. Fronstein Urology Clinic, Clinical Hospital No. 2 (Moscow) hosted a scientific and practical conference with international participation, "High Technologies in Urology." The event was organized by I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and the PRAXI MEDICA Medical Practice Training Center. Over 350 specialists from Russia and neighboring countries participated in the event, and approximately 2,500 watched the conference online from their workplaces. Denis Puganov, Head of Urology, represented ElePS, presenting the Quasar, a Russian-made laser endourology system, including the first Russian-made thulium laser, the Urolaz, a Full HD endoscopic video camera, an LED endoscopic illuminator, a urological morcellator, an aspirator-irrigator, a laser resectoscope, and a morcescope. The conference was entirely dedicated to advanced medical technologies used in the surgical treatment of urological diseases. The conference program included presentations by leading specialists in the field, as well as live surgery sessions with live broadcasts from operating rooms. The first day of the conference focused on modern approaches to kidney and prostate surgery. Participants were shown various surgical procedures using traditional, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques. The second day was devoted entirely to an introduction to the potential of laser technologies in urology. During demonstration surgeries, surgeons used various types of laser energy (thulium and holmium lasers) to treat urological diseases. The use of the thulium laser attracted particular attention and interest from attendees. The first Russian thulium laser, the Urolaz manufactured by IRE-Polus Scientific and Production Association, was presented. Its performance is comparable to that of foreign counterparts. A comparison of domestic and foreign lasers was possible in the live surgery section, where participants observed surgeons performing thulium enucleation of prostate adenoma in real time using the foreign VELA XL laser (surgeon Armin Secker) and the domestic Urolaz laser (surgeon N.I. Sorokin). One of the thulium enucleation surgeries, performed by D.V. Yenikeev, was conducted using ElePS equipment – ??a morcellator and morcescope. Videos of surgeries and presentations from the High Technologies in Urology conference are available on our website in the video section – laser endourology [http://eleps.ru/video/laserendo/index.php]. Participants noted the richness and relevance of the conference's scientific program. The information received proved useful for both young specialists and specialists with extensive experience. Date: April 6-7, 2017 Venue: Moscow, Bolshaya Pirogovskaya, Building 2, Building 1 – R.M. Fronstein Urology Clinic, Clinical Hospital No. 2.
