On June 29, the Laser Medicine Center of the First St. Petersburg State Medical University named after Academician I.P. Pavlov hosted a scientific and practical seminar, "Laser Technologies in Medicine – Today and Tomorrow." The seminar was organized by our partners, IRE-Polus Scientific and Technical Association, LLC. All participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest advances in laser medicine and see medical devices for phlebology, dermatology, urology, and other areas of medicine manufactured by IRE-Polus Scientific and Technical Association, LLC. Of particular interest to the seminar participants was the new Urolaz thulium laser. This is the first Russian-made, next-generation laser for minimally invasive surgery and the destruction of urinary tract and kidney stones. Participants were able to evaluate the new thulium laser directly at the stand, where a stone fragmentation demonstration was conducted. The main program of the seminar included presentations by specialists in various fields, from urology to dermatology. The seminar's keynote speaker was dermatologist Edward Victor Ross. Ross is a recipient of the Leon Goldman Award, the highest honor bestowed by the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He was elected president of the society in 2008. He has collaborated with leading global companies in developing virtually all modern laser technologies for clinical and cosmetic dermatology. He has over 20 years of clinical experience at Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, MA, USA), ranked #1 in America in 2015, and Naval Medical Center (San Diego, CA, USA). He is currently the medical director of Scrips Clinic, a private clinic at UCSD Medical Center (San Diego, CA, USA). He is the author and co-author of over 200 scientific publications and seven books. We thank all seminar participants!
